Custom website for a fast-food restaurant

OK Korean Chicken, Kaunas

Website with an online ordering system for a Korean fast food restaurant located in Kaunas helped this business grow quickly in a competitive market driven by home delivery in the middle of the pandemic.

Project summary

OK Korean Chicken was a Korean fast-food restaurant in Kaunas, Lithuania’s second-largest city. Opened in 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, the restaurant quickly built a loyal customer base through delivery apps like Wolt or Bolt, with a high volume of daily orders.

To capitalize on this momentum and reduce dependency on third-party platforms, the owners decided to open their own website. The goal: streamline the ordering experience, strengthen brand presence online, and increase order value through smart UX design.

Although the restaurant closed its doors in 2024, this project remains a clear example of how design, user experience, and business strategy can align to drive rapid growth in a highly competitive sector.

Objective: Website for a Korean restaurant with delivery service

The site needed to enable direct online ordering, work seamlessly across mobile and desktop, and reduce dependency on Wolt and Bolt. Key points:

  • Direct online ordering, with real-time order status tracking.
  • Automatic email and SMS notifications
  • UX designed to increase average order value (upselling)

The solution and its impact: A modern website with its own ordering system

Unlike earlier projects built on off-the-shelf themes and plugins, this one was custom-built from scratch — full development to tailor every piece to the restaurant’s workflow.

Own online ordering: customers buy directly on the website, without going through third-party apps, with the same smoothness on mobile as on desktop.

Real-time tracking and notifications: customers can see their order status and receive automatic email and SMS alerts at every stage.

Upselling through cognitive biases: combos, limited-time offers, and featured products to raise the average ticket without adding friction.

Performance: 100% custom theme, fast loading, and mobile-first design to lower bounce rate.

The result:

The site went on to handle an average of 50 orders per day directly, with no commission to Wolt or Bolt, at an 8.6% conversion rate — combining cold traffic and repeat customers. The email and SMS notification system kept customers informed at every step, with no manual intervention from the restaurant.
