A custom website for a Korean restaurant with online ordering capabilities helped this Korean fast food business grow quickly in a competitive delivery-driven market.
OK Korean Chicken was a fast-growing Korean fast food restaurant based in Kaunas — Lithuania’s second-largest city. Launched in 2020 during the height of the pandemic, the brand quickly built a loyal customer base through delivery apps like Wolt and Bolt with a high volume of daily orders.
To support that momentum and reduce dependency on third-party platforms, the owners commissioned a custom-built website. The goal: to streamline the ordering experience, improve brand presence, and increase order value through smart UX design.
While the restaurant closed its doors in 2023, this project remains a strong example of how design, UX, and business strategy can align to support rapid growth in a highly competitive space.
The site needed to support online food ordering, provide a seamless UX across devices, and reduce reliance on third-party delivery platforms. Key objectives included:
To accomplish this, I combined UX design principles with smart development to build a platform that was both visually polished and highly functional — helping customers order quickly and confidently.
Unlike my previous projects, where I worked with existing themes and plugins with minor customizations, this project required deep code modifications and custom development to achieve the restaurant’s specific needs. I took a highly tailored approach, using various plugins and completely customizing them to ensure a smooth and user-friendly experience.
Key features of the website include:
Custom Online Ordering System
Real-Time Order Tracking & Notifications
Sales Optimization with Cognitive Biases & Upselling
Enhanced User Experience & Performance

For the delivery system, I used WooCommerce as the base but completely customized it by editing the code and programming each step to enhance the user experience. Additionally, I translated the entire system into the local language and integrated it with a special in-house app used by the restaurant to receive orders efficiently.
With these improvements, OK Korean Chicken now has a powerful digital platform that not only streamlines orders but also actively increases revenue. The combination of an intuitive ordering system, automated notifications, and sales-driven features has helped the restaurant scale and reduce its dependence on third-party delivery apps.
As soon as we launched the page, we saw good performance and sales.
Over time, we also saw a strong base of repeat customers, proving the site’s usability and effectiveness in driving loyalty

Customers receive real-time SMS and email notifications about their order status. The design was completely revamped to match the restaurant’s branding, featuring custom layouts and colors, replacing the default WooCommerce or WordPress email styles.
Every email and message was rewritten, removing generic system-generated texts to create a fully personalized communication experience, reinforcing the brand’s identity.

To ensure the system worked flawlessly, I had to rewrite and modify code, making crucial adjustments and integrating:
A major challenge was plugin compatibility, as many essential features were either not supported or functioned unpredictably. I leveraged my expertise in PHP, CSS, and JavaScript to make everything work smoothly.
Additionally, translating the entire system into Lithuanian presented another challenge. Since none of the plugins had Lithuanian language support, I had to manually edit PHP code to ensure that every single word, even common ones like "sort by," was correctly translated. This attention to detail was crucial in delivering a fully localized experience for customers.
